Mexico City Capitanes vs. Osceola Magic

Preview: Capitanes Visit Magic in G League Showdown

SAND LAKE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Mexico City Capitanes (6-8) and Osceola Magic (8-7) meet in an NBA G League interconference matchup Monday at the Orange County Convention Center, with both teams looking to build momentum heading into the holiday break.

The game is a rematch of a Nov. 13 contest won by Osceola, 117-111, on its home floor. The Magic have lost four straight since a Dec. 6 win at Oklahoma City, including a 112-99 road loss to the Noblesville Boom on Friday. The Capitanes snapped a two-game skid with a 111-102 home victory over the Long Island Nets on Saturday.

A key matchup will feature Mexico City’s Isaih Moore against Osceola’s Lester Quinones. Moore, a center, is coming off an efficient 18-point, six-rebound performance in 24 minutes against Long Island. Over his last eight games, he has posted three double-doubles, including a 23-point, 15-rebound effort in a win over Texas on Dec. 1.

Quinones, a forward for the Magic, has been a consistent offensive force despite the team’s recent struggles. He recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the loss to Noblesville and is averaging 22.4 points over his last five contests. His season high of 33 points came in a Dec. 11 loss at Memphis.

Mexico City’s recent form has been uneven, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. Beyond Moore, forwards Andersson Garcia and L.J. Figueroa provided significant contributions in the win over Long Island.

Osceola’s losing streak has featured narrow defeats, including back-to-back losses to Memphis by a combined five points. Guard Reece Beekman, who had 16 points and six assists Friday, and forward Justin Minaya, who blocked four shots, are key complementary pieces around Quinones.

Following Monday’s game, Mexico City begins a three-game road trip at Austin on Dec. 27. Osceola opens a six-game road swing at Santa Cruz on Dec. 27.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
