Austin vs. Maine

AUSTIN SPURS (12-3) AT MAINE CELTICS (9-6)

Preview

SAND LAKE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Austin Spurs, owners of the NBA G League’s best record, look to rebound from a rare loss when they face the Maine Celtics in a neutral-site contest at the Orange County Convention Center on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.

Austin (12-3) enters having dropped just its third game of the season, a 119-117 overtime heartbreaker to the Stockton Kings on Friday. Despite the loss, the Spurs showcased their offensive firepower, with Stanley Umude scoring 34 points and David Jones adding 31. Umude, a player to watch, is averaging 22.1 points over his last seven games, including a 39-point, nine-rebound performance in a win at Mexico City on Dec. 10.

The Spurs’ high-powered attack, which has scored 110 or more points in 11 of their 15 games, will test a Maine squad seeking consistency. The Celtics (9-6) have alternated wins and losses over their past five outings and are coming off a 123-107 road defeat to the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday. In that game, Jalen Bridges led Maine with 28 points and seven rebounds. Bridges, the Celtics’ player to watch, has been variable, following a 20-point outing on Dec. 7 with three consecutive single-digit scoring games before his 28-point burst.

Maine will need a collective defensive effort to slow an Austin team that ranks among the league’s most efficient. The Spurs have been particularly strong on the road and at neutral sites, with a 7-2 record outside their home arena.

This matchup is the only scheduled meeting between the affiliates of the San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics this season. Following this game, Austin returns home to face Mexico City on Dec. 27, while Maine begins a back-to-back at Raptors 905 on Dec. 27.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.
