Osceola Magic vs. Noblesville Boom
SAND LAKE, Fla. (Interstat) — A dominant second-quarter surge propelled the Noblesville Boom to a 112-99 victory over the Osceola Magic in an NBA G League game Friday night at the Orange County Convention Center.
The Boom, who improved to 6-9, used a 38-point second period to seize control, turning a three-point deficit after the first quarter into a commanding 63-44 halftime lead. The Magic, who fell to 8-7, could not recover from the 22-point swing despite a spirited 33-point effort in the final quarter.
Noblesville’s offensive explosion was fueled by a combination of efficient scoring and disruptive defense. The Boom shot 47.6% from the field and converted 13 of 19 free throws, while forcing 17 Osceola turnovers, which they converted into numerous transition opportunities.
The most important stretch of the game was unquestionably the second quarter. After Osceola led 28-25 following the opening period, Noblesville’s offense ignited. The Boom opened the quarter on a 20-6 run, capitalizing on a series of Magic turnovers and missed shots. The period featured a balanced attack, with key contributions from Taelon Peter and Au’Diese Toney, and was defined by a significant disparity in ball security and shot-making that allowed Noblesville to build an insurmountable cushion.
Jalen Slawson led the Boom with a dominant all-around performance, recording 21 points and 16 rebounds. Taelon Peter, a shooting guard from Russellville, Arkansas, provided a game-high 32 points. Kyle Guy orchestrated the offense with eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
For Osceola, Lester Quinones posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Reece Beekman added 16 points and six assists, while Will Baker contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds in just 15 minutes off the bench.
Despite being out-rebounded 55-47, the Boom’s defensive activity proved decisive. They recorded 14 steals and seven blocks, with Slawson accounting for three blocks and five of the team’s seven assists, highlighting his pivotal role. Osceola’s offensive struggles were evident in their 36-for-92 shooting (39.1%) and a 10-for-42 performance from three-point range.
The Magic’s next game is Saturday, Dec. 27, at Santa Cruz. The Boom will host Texas on the same date.
