Memphis vs. Rio Grande Valley

Hustle, Vipers Set for G League Showdown Following Recent Meeting

EDINBURG, Texas (Interstat) — The Rio Grande Valley Vipers will look to complete a quick two-game regular-season sweep of the Memphis Hustle when the teams meet again Saturday at Bert Ogden Arena.

The Vipers (29-19) handled the Hustle (16-30) 106-90 just two nights prior on Thursday, extending their dominance in the season series. Rio Grande Valley has won all three matchups this season, including two narrow victories in Memphis in November.

Saturday’s contest pits two of the G League’s most potent individual scorers in a compelling head-to-head battle. Memphis will lean on center Orlando Robinson, who is averaging 24.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks over his last six games. He posted 28 points and eight rebounds in Thursday’s loss to the Vipers.

Rio Grande Valley counters with forward Tristen Newton, who is coming off a spectacular 43-point performance in a road win over Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Newton has scored 28 or more points in four of his last seven outings, providing consistent firepower for the Western Conference contenders.

The Vipers have won seven of their last 10 games to solidify their playoff positioning. Guard Daishen Nix, who had 20 points and seven assists against Oklahoma City, forms a dynamic backcourt partnership with Newton.

Memphis, meanwhile, has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. Beyond Robinson, production has been variable. Paul Watson scored 20 points in Sunday’s loss to Oklahoma City, but the Hustle were held under 100 points in Thursday’s defeat to Rio Grande Valley.

The Vipers’ high-octane offense, which has topped 120 points in three of its last five games, will test a Memphis defense that allows a league-worst 121.3 points per game. The Hustle’s hope likely rests on Robinson controlling the interior and slowing Rio Grande Valley’s pace.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Bert Ogden Arena.
