College Park vs. Greensboro
Preview: College Park Skyhawks at Greensboro Swarm
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The surging College Park Skyhawks will look to continue their recent strong form when they visit the playoff-bound Greensboro Swarm in a G League matchup Saturday at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.
The game is a quick rematch, as the Swarm (33-15) defeated the Skyhawks (17-30) 132-121 just one night earlier on Friday. Greensboro has won all three meetings between the teams this season.
College Park enters having won six of its last eight games, a stark turnaround for a team well below .500. Their success has been fueled by the outstanding play of guard Keshon Gilbert. Over his last seven games, Gilbert is averaging 20.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.6 assists, including a 28-point, 12-assist performance in Friday’s loss to the Swarm.
Greensboro, among the league’s elite, has hit a minor skid, losing three of its last four. They are led by center P.J. Hall, who is coming off a 34-point, 8-rebound effort in a loss to Motor City on Wednesday. Hall has been a consistent force, recording a double-double in six of his last ten contests.
The Skyhawks’ improved play will be tested by a Swarm team that dominates the head-to-head series and plays with home-court advantage. Containing Hall inside will be a primary concern for College Park, which got 21 points and 11 rebounds from center Isaih Moore in Friday’s loss.
For Greensboro, slowing Gilbert’s playmaking and building an early lead to dampen the Skyhawks’ confidence will be key. The Swarm’s depth and superior record make them the favorite, but Gilbert’s hot hand gives the visiting Skyhawks a puncher’s chance in the rematch.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT Saturday.
