Texas vs. Santa Cruz

BONNY DOON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build late-season momentum will meet when the Texas Legends visit the Santa Cruz Warriors in a G League matchup Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

The Legends (19-29) enter on a modest upswing, having won three of their last four games, including a 109-106 victory over Iowa on March 22. The Warriors (15-33), however, have struggled to find consistency, dropping eight of their last 10 contests. Their most recent outing was a 131-119 road loss to Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

A key matchup will feature Texas center Moussa Cisse against Santa Cruz’s backcourt leader, Chance McMillian. Cisse has been a dominant force on the glass, recording a double-double in five consecutive games. Over that stretch, he averaged 15.0 points and 14.2 rebounds, including an 18-rebound performance against San Diego on March 14.

McMillian has been a bright spot for Santa Cruz, serving as a primary offensive catalyst. He is coming off a 20-point, 6-rebound, 6-assist effort against Salt Lake City and has averaged 18.5 points and 6.6 assists over his last 10 games. His season high of 30 points came in a loss at Cleveland on March 14.

In their last outing, Texas was led by Cisse’s 17 points and 12 rebounds, along with a game-high 29 points from guard Dalano Banton. Santa Cruz, in its loss to Salt Lake City, saw McMillian, Marques Bolden (20 points) and Taevion Kinsey (22 points) lead the scoring.

The game will be the first of a two-game set between the teams at Kaiser Permanente Arena, with a rematch scheduled for Saturday night. Both clubs are near the bottom of the Western Conference standings and will be seeking to improve their positioning in the final weeks of the regular season.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT Friday.
