Cleveland vs. Maine

Preview: Charge, Celtics Set for G League Rematch

PORTLAND, Maine (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge and Maine Celtics will meet for the second time in three days when the G League teams face off Tuesday at the Portland Exposition Building.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT.

The Celtics (25-23) dominated the first matchup, routing the visiting Charge 121-91 on Sunday. Maine will look to replicate that performance and continue its push in the Eastern Conference standings, while Cleveland (29-17) seeks immediate redemption to solidify its playoff positioning.

A key matchup will feature two standout players sharing a surname. Cleveland guard Darius Brown enters on a remarkable assist run, averaging a double-double over his last eight games with 14.8 points and 11.5 assists per contest. His playmaking will be central to the Charge’s offensive rhythm.

For Maine, forward Kendall Brown provides versatile scoring and defense. He is coming off a 24-point performance in a loss to Birmingham on March 17 and has averaged 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds over his last seven outings.

Despite Sunday’s lopsided result, Cleveland holds a superior overall record and had won five straight prior to its current two-game skid, which includes a 141-124 loss to Delaware on March 18. The Charge’s offense, which averages 122.2 points per game, will aim to rediscover its form.

Maine has been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses in its last six games. The Celtics’ defense, which held Cleveland under 100 points last meeting, will be tested again by one of the league’s more potent attacks.

The game is the first of a two-game road trip for Cleveland, which visits Noblesville on Thursday. Maine continues a four-game homestand.
