Westchester vs. Long Island
Preview: Westchester Knicks at Long Island Nets
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Long Island Nets look to solidify their playoff positioning and continue their dominance over the Westchester Knicks when the G League rivals meet Tuesday night at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Nets (25-20), despite dropping their last two games on the road to the Osceola Magic, have won all three matchups against the Knicks this season. Their most recent victory was a 117-111 home win over Westchester on March 1. Long Island currently holds a 2.5-game lead for the sixth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
Westchester (13-33), anchored to the bottom of the conference, is coming off a rare high note, a 141-131 victory over Greensboro on Sunday. That win snapped a three-game skid. The Knicks will rely on guard Tyler Kolek, who is averaging 18 points and 11 assists over his last two games, including a double-double in a loss to College Park on March 21.
Long Island’s Dre Davis has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 22.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games against Osceola last week. Davis had 4 points and 3 rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench in the March 1 win over Westchester.
The Nets’ recent success has been built on a balanced attack. In their last outing, Davis scored 20 points, David Muoka posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Alex Schumacher added 18 points.
For Westchester, consistency remains elusive. Following their win over Greensboro, they face a Nets team that has defeated them by an average of 10.3 points in their three meetings this season.
Tuesday’s contest is the first of a brief two-game homestand for Long Island, which hosts Delaware on Wednesday. Westchester continues a road stretch before returning home to face Windy City on Saturday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
