Raptors 905 vs. Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Raptors 905 used a dominant first quarter and a balanced scoring attack to secure a 116-101 victory over the Salt Lake City Stars in a G League matchup Monday afternoon at Delta Center.
The visiting Raptors set the tone early, outscoring the Stars 29-19 in the opening period. They extended their lead with a 31-point second quarter, taking a 60-50 advantage into halftime. A 34-point third quarter outburst by Raptors 905 effectively put the game out of reach, pushing their lead to 94-72 heading into the final frame. The Stars mounted a late push with 29 points in the fourth quarter, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
The most important part of the game was the Raptors’ sustained offensive execution and ability to answer every Stars run. After Salt Lake City closed the gap in the second quarter, Raptors 905 responded with their highest-scoring period in the third, building a 22-point cushion. Key plays during that stretch included consecutive three-pointers from AJ Hoggard and a driving layup by Tyreke Key that forced a Stars timeout. Whenever Salt Lake City threatened, the Raptors had an answer, often from a different player, showcasing their depth and preventing any sustained momentum for the home team.
The win improved Raptors 905’s season record to 36-13, solidifying their position as one of the league’s top teams. The loss dropped Salt Lake City to 26-24. The game was a reversal of fortune from the teams’ last meeting on Dec. 22, when the Stars defeated the Raptors 137-112.
Raptors 905’s offense was a collective effort, with multiple players contributing key baskets throughout the night. The team consistently moved the ball and found open shots, maintaining a high scoring pace across the first three quarters before closing out the win in the fourth.
Salt Lake City was led by the backcourt play of Sean East and the interior presence of Daniel Batcho, but struggled to string together defensive stops against the Raptors’ versatile attack. The Stars also committed several turnovers that led to easy transition opportunities for the visitors.
The Raptors 905 will next host the Wisconsin Herd on Thursday. The Stars will look to rebound quickly when they host the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday night.
