Rio Grande Valley vs. Santa Cruz
Preview: Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Santa Cruz Warriors
BONNY DOON, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Rio Grande Valley Vipers squad will look to continue its push up the standings when it visits the struggling Santa Cruz Warriors in a G League matchup on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
The Vipers (27-17) enter on a strong run, having won seven of their last 10 games, including a 116-105 victory over Salt Lake City on Saturday. They are powered by guard Daishen Nix, who is playing at an elite level. Over his last 10 games, Nix has averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.8 blocks per contest, showcasing his all-around impact. He is coming off a 22-point, 10-assist double-double in the win over Salt Lake City.
In contrast, the home-standing Warriors (14-30) have lost eight of their last 10 and are coming off a 137-130 road loss to Capital City on Tuesday. Forward Jack Clark has been a bright spot, averaging 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds over that stretch, and he posted 22 points and nine rebounds in the most recent defeat. However, Santa Cruz has consistently struggled defensively, allowing 120 or more points in six of those 10 games.
The teams’ recent trajectories paint a clear picture. Rio Grande Valley has demonstrated a potent and efficient offense, scoring 128 and 137 points in two of its last four outings. Santa Cruz, meanwhile, has endured blowout losses at Cleveland (130-100, 138-116) in its recent road trip.
This game marks the first of a quick home-and-home set between the teams, who will meet again in Santa Cruz on Saturday. For the Vipers, it’s a chance to solidify their playoff positioning. For the Warriors, it represents an opportunity to halt a skid and find consistency in front of their home fans.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT Thursday.
