Rio Grande Valley vs. Texas

Vipers, Legends Set for G League Showdown in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Rio Grande Valley Vipers squad will look to extend its winning streak against the struggling Texas Legends when the G League rivals meet Tuesday night at Dr Pepper Arena.

The Vipers (27-17) enter on a two-game win streak following a 116-105 victory over Salt Lake City on Saturday. Guard Daishen Nix, the team’s engine, posted 22 points and 10 assists in that win, continuing a run of dominant form. Over his last 10 games, Nix is averaging 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists, showcasing his all-around impact.

The Legends (16-28), despite their record, are coming off one of their best performances of the season, a 128-106 rout of San Diego on Saturday. Center Moussa Cisse anchored that win with a monstrous 18-rebound, 13-point double-double. Cisse has been a force on the glass, recording a double-double in four of his last five contests, averaging 13.4 points and 13.2 rebounds in that span.

This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season. Rio Grande Valley holds a 2-1 edge, including a thrilling 121-120 overtime victory in Frisco on Feb. 12. The Vipers’ offense has been potent, scoring 128 and 137 points in two of their last four outings.

Texas will need another huge night from Cisse to control the paint and counter the Vipers’ high-octane, guard-led attack spearheaded by Nix. The Legends have lost eight of their last ten games but showed a flash of their potential in their most recent win.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, March 17.
