Wisconsin vs. Windy City
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — The Windy City Bulls, holding a slim edge in the G League standings, will host the struggling Wisconsin Herd on Monday night at Sears Centre in a Central Division matchup.
The Bulls (20-23) enter on the heels of a 124-116 home victory over Valley on Thursday, snapping a five-game losing streak. They will look to continue their recent dominance over the Herd, having won all three meetings this season, including a 112-104 decision here on Feb. 24.
Windy City is powered by forward Mouhamadou Gueye, who is coming off a 27-point, 12-rebound performance. Over his last five games, Gueye has averaged 22.4 points and 8.6 rebounds, providing consistent production in the frontcourt. Point guard Mac McClung, who dished out 17 assists in the last outing, facilitates the offense.
The Herd (13-31) aim to halt a three-game skid after a 126-113 road loss to Osceola on Wednesday. Their season has been defined by offensive struggles, particularly on the road where they have managed just five wins.
A bright spot for Wisconsin is guard Stevie Thompson, who is in the midst of an exceptional individual stretch. Thompson is averaging a near triple-double over his last four games, posting 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per contest. He recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a loss to Mexico City on March 7. Containing Thompson will be a primary focus for the Bulls’ defense.
Despite their overall record, the Herd have been competitive against Windy City, losing the three matchups by an average of just seven points. Wisconsin’s John Butler (21 points vs. Osceola) and Kira Lewis (28 points vs. Osceola) offer secondary scoring threats.
Following Monday’s game, the Bulls begin a four-game road trip at Capital City on Wednesday. The Herd return home to host Motor City for a two-game series starting Friday.
