Long Island vs. Osceola

Preview: Long Island Nets at Osceola Magic

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two of the G League’s top teams will meet Sunday when the Osceola Magic host the Long Island Nets at Silver Spurs Arena.

The Magic (28-15) enter with the better overall record, but are looking to rebound from a 127-120 road loss to Greensboro on Friday. The Nets (25-18) arrive on a three-game winning streak, their latest a 117-115 victory at Greensboro on March 6.

A key matchup will feature Long Island’s E.J. Liddell against Osceola’s Will Baker. Liddell, a forward, is coming off a dominant performance, scoring 36 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in that win over Greensboro. Over his last seven games, he is averaging 15.1 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Baker, a center for the Magic, has been a force on the boards. He recorded a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double in a win over Wisconsin on March 11. His playing time and production have fluctuated recently, but he remains a pivotal interior presence for Osceola.

The Nets have found rhythm offensively, scoring 116 points or more in five of their last six contests. Alongside Liddell, forwards Chaney Johnson and guard Malachi Smith provided significant contributions in the last outing, combining for 36 points and 12 assists.

Osceola’s offense has been potent at home, highlighted by a 134-point outburst against Maine on March 8. However, consistency has been an issue, as the team has alternated wins and losses over its past five games.

This contest begins a critical home back-to-back for the Magic, who will host the Nets again on Tuesday. For Long Island, this two-game Florida trip is a test against one of the Eastern Conference’s elite before a five-day break.

Sunday’s game tips off at 3 p.m. EDT.
