Santa Cruz vs. Cleveland
Preview of G League Game: Santa Cruz Warriors at Cleveland Charge
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge will look to complete a two-game home sweep of the Santa Cruz Warriors when the teams meet again Saturday at Wolstein Center.
The Charge (28-15) dominated the opener of the back-to-back set Friday night, cruising to a 138-116 victory. Cleveland’s high-powered offense has been a constant during its successful season, while Santa Cruz (14-28) continues to search for consistency.
A key matchup will feature two of the G League’s top performers in recent weeks. Santa Cruz center Charles Bassey is averaging a double-double, posting 22.1 points and 12.1 rebounds over his last seven games. He recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds in Friday’s loss to Cleveland.
For the Charge, guard Darius Brown has been a triple-double threat and the engine of the league’s top offense. In his last six games, Brown is averaging 14.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 12.3 assists. He dished out 14 assists in Cleveland’s win over Capital City on Tuesday.
The Warriors have lost five of their last seven games. Following Saturday’s contest, they embark on a four-game road trip.
Cleveland has won eight of its last ten games and remains near the top of the league standings. After hosting Santa Cruz, the Charge will enjoy a three-day break before hosting Delaware next Wednesday.
Saturday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EDT tipoff at the Wolstein Center.
