Stockton vs. Sioux Falls
Preview: Stockton Kings at Sioux Falls Skyforce
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Interstat) — The surging Stockton Kings visit the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a Western Conference G League matchup Wednesday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
Stockton (26-14) enters with the superior record but looks to rebound from a 127-119 overtime loss to Birmingham on Sunday. The Kings had won three straight prior to that defeat.
Sioux Falls (24-20) seeks consistency after a narrow 119-118 loss to Austin on Sunday snapped a two-game winning streak. The Skyforce have gone 5-5 over their last 10 contests.
A key matchup will feature Stockton guard Jameer Nelson against Sioux Falls forward Dain Dainja. Nelson is coming off a 26-point, six-rebound performance in the overtime loss. Dainja has been a force for the Skyforce, averaging a double-double over his last five games, including a 25-point, 12-rebound effort in Sunday’s defeat.
Stockton’s offense, which scored 131 points in a win over Iowa last week, will test a Sioux Falls defense that has allowed an average of 112.3 points over its last three games.
The Kings have relied on balanced contributions, with Mitch Mascari posting a 14-point, 13-reouble double and Gabe Levin adding 10 rebounds in their last outing.
For Sioux Falls, supporting cast members like Josh Christopher (16 points, seven assists Sunday) and Jahmir Young (23 points) provide perimeter scoring to complement Dainja’s interior presence.
This is the first of a two-game set between the teams this week, with a rematch scheduled for Friday at the same venue.
