Wisconsin vs. Osceola

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic used a dominant second-quarter surge to overpower the Wisconsin Herd 126-113 in a G League matchup Wednesday night at Silver Spurs Arena.

The game was closely contested early, with the Magic holding a narrow 32-26 lead after the first quarter. The turning point came in the second period, where Osceola erupted for 39 points. A pivotal 11-2 run, capped by a Reece Beekman 3-pointer assisted by Lester Quinones, forced a Wisconsin timeout with the Magic leading 71-52. Osceola’s offensive execution and defensive pressure created a cushion that the Herd could not overcome, taking a 71-53 advantage into halftime.

Wisconsin, showing resilience, mounted several challenges throughout the second half. The Herd opened the third quarter with an 11-2 run of their own, fueled by 3-pointers from Stevie Thompson and Mark Sears, to cut the deficit to nine points. Each time Wisconsin threatened, however, Osceola had an answer, often from Quinones or center Will Baker, to stabilize their lead.

The Herd made a final push in the fourth quarter, trimming the Magic lead to 11 points on multiple occasions behind the playmaking of Kira Lewis and the outside shooting of John Butler. But critical baskets from Baker and Phillip Wheeler, coupled with key defensive stops, allowed Osceola to maintain control and close out the victory.

The Magic’s balanced attack proved overwhelming. Quinones provided consistent perimeter scoring, while Baker’s presence in the paint was felt on both ends, contributing points, rebounds and defensive resistance. Beekman orchestrated the offense effectively, facilitating for his teammates.

For Wisconsin, Thompson led a persistent offensive effort, creating shots for himself and others. Butler stretched the floor with his outside shooting, and Lewis provided a spark off the bench with timely drives and playmaking. Despite the loss, the Herd’s 113-point output highlighted their offensive capabilities, but they had no defensive answer for Osceola’s 71-point first half.

With the win, Osceola improved its season record to 28 wins and 14 losses, solidifying its position as a top team in the league. Wisconsin fell to 13 wins and 31 losses. The Magic travel to face Greensboro on Friday. The Herd’s next game is at Windy City on Monday.
