College Park vs. Windy City

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — In a G League thriller that required overtime to decide, the College Park Skyhawks edged the Windy City Bulls 127-126 on Tuesday night at Sears Centre.

The game turned on a final, frantic sequence in regulation. With the score tied and seconds remaining, College Park’s Keshon Gilbert lost the ball on a drive, and Windy City’s Ryan Woolridge came up with the steal. The Bulls called timeout with a chance to win. Kevin Knox’s 27-foot 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed, sending the game to an extra period tied at 120.

The overtime was a tense, back-and-forth affair. Windy City’s Mac McClung, who was dominant throughout, gave the Bulls a 126-125 lead with a driving floating jumper with just over a minute left. On the ensuing possession, College Park’s Asa Newell powered home a driving dunk off an assist from Basheer Jihad to put the Skyhawks back ahead 127-126 with 1:35 to play.

That basket proved to be the final points of the night. Both defenses clamped down over the remaining 95 seconds. Windy City had multiple opportunities but could not convert, sealing the narrow victory for the visiting Skyhawks.

The game was a tale of contrasting halves and remarkable resilience from College Park. Windy City exploded out of the gate, led by a scorching first-quarter performance from McClung. The Bulls put up 45 points in the opening period, building a 17-point lead. McClung’s individual outburst set an early tone, but College Park steadily chipped away.

The Skyhawks responded with a 35-point second quarter to pull within three points at halftime, 62-59. They then took control after the break, outscoring Windy City in the third quarter to carry a slim lead into the fourth. The final period of regulation saw eight lead changes and three ties, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.

McClung was the standout performer for Windy City, orchestrating the offense and scoring from all levels. His effort nearly carried the Bulls to a win despite the team’s second-half inconsistencies. For College Park, balance and persistence were key, as they weathered the early storm and executed in the clutch.

With the win, College Park improved to 13-29 on the season, while Windy City fell to 19-23. The Skyhawks snapped a two-game skid, while the Bulls have now lost three consecutive games.

College Park next hosts Austin on March 17. Windy City continues its homestand against Valley on March 12.
