Westchester vs. Delaware
Preview: Westchester Knicks at Delaware Blue Coats
WILMINGTON, Del. (Interstat) — The Delaware Blue Coats look to continue their push for a G League playoff position when they host the struggling Westchester Knicks on Wednesday afternoon at 76ers Fieldhouse.
Delaware (17-20) enters on a two-game winning streak, having routed the Grand Rapids Gold in consecutive home games on Feb. 28 and March 1. The Blue Coats are led by forward Tyrese Martin, who is coming off a triple-double performance with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Sunday’s 124-112 victory. In his last two outings, Martin has averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
Westchester (10-28) has lost two straight and nine of its last 12 games. The Knicks fell 117-111 at Long Island on Sunday despite 22 points from Pacome Dadiet and 17 points and eight assists from Dillon Jones. Jones, a guard, has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists over his last six games.
The season series favors Delaware, which has won both prior meetings. The Blue Coats won 134-113 at home on Nov. 8, and edged the Knicks 113-111 in Westchester on Nov. 26.
Delaware’s recent surge has been fueled by high-scoring performances, topping 124 points in three of its last four games. MarJon Beauchamp (24 points, 10 rebounds on Sunday) provides a strong secondary scoring option alongside Martin.
Westchester, which begins a two-game set in Wilmington, has shown sporadic offensive potency, winning three home games in February while averaging over 122 points in those victories. Replicating that firepower on the road has been a challenge.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST Wednesday. The teams will meet again at the same venue on Friday night.
