Stockton vs. South Bay

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Interstat) — The South Bay Lakers used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from the Stockton Kings and secure a 115-100 victory in a G League matchup Saturday at the UCLA Health Training Center.

The game was closely contested for the first half, with South Bay taking a narrow 55-52 lead into halftime. The decisive shift came in the third period, where the Lakers outscored the Kings 35-26. That run was fueled by a combination of efficient offense and disruptive defense. South Bay shot 50% from the field in the quarter while forcing seven Stockton turnovers, which they converted into easy transition opportunities.

Drew Timme led all scorers for South Bay, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists, orchestrating the offense from the high post. He was supported by a balanced attack that saw Nick Smith contribute 20 points and seven assists, Chris Manon add 15 points and five rebounds, and Malik Williams chip in 13 points and six rebounds. The Lakers’ ball movement was superior, tallying 13 assists to Stockton’s six, and their defense was opportunistic, registering 13 steals against a Kings team that committed 22 total turnovers.

For Stockton, DaQuan Jeffries continued his strong recent play with a team-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Antoine Davis scored 16 points off the bench, while Jon Elmore and Jaylin Williams each added 15 points. The Kings struggled with their shooting throughout, making just 37.2% of their field goal attempts compared to South Bay’s 50%. Despite attempting more three-pointers and making more than the Lakers, Stockton’s 14-for-46 performance from deep was inefficient.

A key statistical disparity came at the free-throw line, where South Bay attempted 20 shots to Stockton’s 15, and in points off turnovers, where the Lakers held a significant advantage. While Stockton won the rebounding battle 43-37, it was not enough to offset their struggles with ball security and shot selection.

With the win, South Bay improved its season record to 23-15, while Stockton fell to 24-13. The two teams are scheduled to meet again in El Segundo on March 24.

The outcome defied a pregame statistical model from Interstat, which had projected South Bay with a 67.9% probability to win. The Lakers controlled the game’s tempo after halftime, turning a tight contest into a comfortable double-digit victory by capitalizing on Stockton’s mistakes and executing consistently on offense.
