College Park vs. Capital City
Preview: College Park Skyhawks at Capital City Go-Go
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Capital City Go-Go (18-21) will look to solidify their position in the G League standings when they host the struggling College Park Skyhawks (11-27) on Saturday afternoon at CareFirst Arena.
The Go-Go have dropped two straight, including a 124-112 road loss to Westchester on Thursday, and have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games. They will aim to regain momentum against a Skyhawks team they have dominated recently, winning two of three meetings this season. Capital City won the last matchup 122-100 in College Park on Dec. 27.
College Park, however, is coming off one of its best performances of the season, a 132-129 home victory over Raptors 905 on Tuesday. The Skyhawks’ recent form has been uneven, with a 3-7 record over their last 10, but they have shown offensive sparks, scoring 131 and 132 points in two of their last three wins.
A key player to watch for the Skyhawks is forward Basheer Jihad, who is in the midst of a strong individual stretch. Over his last 10 games, Jihad is averaging 17.5 points and 8.2 rebounds. He posted 25 points and nine rebounds in Tuesday’s win and had a 33-point, 11-rebound, five-block effort in a victory at Motor City on Feb. 20.
Capital City will counter with forward Chris Livingston, who is coming off a 31-point, 10-rebound performance in a loss to Birmingham on Feb. 24. Livingston has recorded double-doubles in two of his last four outings and is a consistent scoring and rebounding threat for the Go-Go.
The game will feature two teams heading in opposite directions in the standings, with Capital City seeking to climb above .500 and College Park attempting to build on a rare win and break a pattern of recent defeats in the head-to-head series. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 28.
