Raptors 905 vs. College Park

ATLANTA (Interstat) — In a game defined by a massive fourth-quarter surge, Raptors 905 overcame a double-digit deficit to defeat the College Park Skyhawks 116 to 111 in a G League contest Thursday night at Gateway Center.

The victory improved Raptors 905 to 30-9 this season, while College Park fell to 11-28.

For three quarters, the Skyhawks, led by a dynamic backcourt, controlled the tempo. Guards RayJ Dennis and Dwight Murray fueled a potent offensive attack, particularly in a 33-point third quarter that gave the home team a commanding lead. The Skyhawks entered the final period up 84-79 and appeared poised for an upset, especially given they had defeated these same Raptors just two days prior.

The most important part of the game, however, was the dramatic and decisive turnaround in the fourth quarter. Raptors 905, the league’s top team, unleashed a 37-point final frame, completely flipping the script. The comeback was spearheaded by a remarkable shooting display from center Olivier Sarr. The 7-footer, who had struggled from deep earlier, caught fire, hitting multiple critical three-pointers in the period. His outside shooting stretched the Skyhawks’ defense and opened driving lanes for his teammates.

Sarr’s performance was part of a balanced Raptors attack that ultimately wore down College Park. Guard Tyreke Key provided consistent scoring throughout the night, while forward Tyson Degenhart and guard Alijah Martin of Summit, Mississippi, made key contributions, with Martin facilitating several crucial baskets during the rally.

Despite the loss, College Park received standout performances. Dennis orchestrated the offense for much of the night, and center Isaih Moore was a force inside, contributing on both ends with rebounds and defensive plays. Forward Caleb Houstan also provided a significant scoring punch from the perimeter.

The game’s closing minutes were tense. After Raptors 905 seized the lead with their offensive explosion, the Skyhawks fought to within a single possession in the final seconds. A late steal and layup by Dennis cut the deficit to three points with just over 10 seconds remaining. Raptors 905, however, managed to inbound the ball successfully and run out the clock to secure the five-point road victory.

The outcome defied the teams’ recent history and pregame projections. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 124-100 Raptors win, and its ELO system gave Raptors 905 a 77% probability of victory. The Skyhawks’ strong play for three quarters made the game far more competitive than expected, but they could not withstand the visitors’ fourth-quarter onslaught.

Raptors 905 will look to continue their successful season at home against Greensboro on Saturday. College Park travels to face Capital City on the same day.
