South Bay vs. Valley
TEMPE, Ariz. (Interstat) — The South Bay Lakers used a dominant first half to secure a wire-to-wire 113-99 victory over the Valley Suns in a G League matchup Wednesday afternoon at Mullett Arena.
South Bay established control early, erupting for 34 points in the opening quarter while holding the Suns to 23. The Lakers’ defensive pressure and efficient transition game fueled the fast start, creating a cushion they would never relinquish. The lead ballooned to 24 points by halftime, with South Bay leading 61-37 after outscoring Valley 27-14 in the second period.
The most important part of the game was South Bay’s immediate and sustained defensive intensity in the first half, which generated turnovers and poor shots from Valley, allowing the Lakers to build an insurmountable lead. Despite a more competitive second half where Valley outscored South Bay 62-52, the Suns never managed to cut the deficit to single digits. Valley’s 34-point fourth quarter was rendered inconsequential against the massive hole they had dug earlier.
South Bay improved its season record to 21-15, while Valley fell to 11-26.
The teams are scheduled for a quick rematch at Mullett Arena on Thursday night.
