Oklahoma City vs. Stockton
STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Oklahoma City Blue overcame a significant early deficit and a dominant individual performance by DaQuan Jeffries to defeat the Stockton Kings 114-107 in a G League contest Sunday at Stockton Arena.
The most important part of the game was Oklahoma City’s explosive third-quarter surge, which completely reversed the momentum and established a lead the Blue would not relinquish. Trailing 61-52 at halftime after Stockton built a 15-point first-quarter lead, the Blue erupted for 40 points in the third period. That offensive outburst, which saw them shoot efficiently and force several key Stockton turnovers, turned a nine-point deficit into a 92-84 advantage heading into the final quarter.
The Kings, led by Jeffries’ all-around effort, had controlled the first half. Jeffries finished with a statline that included multiple three-pointers, assists, steals, rebounds and a blocked shot, fueling Stockton’s early pace. The Kings led 33-27 after one quarter and extended that lead by halftime.
Oklahoma City’s comeback was a collective effort. Zhaire Smith provided consistent scoring and playmaking, while Chris Youngblood caught fire from beyond the arc during the pivotal third-quarter run. Anthony Pritchard orchestrated the offense effectively, and Viktor Lakhin provided interior presence at both ends.
Stockton made several attempts to close the gap in the fourth quarter, narrowing it to single digits on multiple occasions. However, timely baskets from Smith and Youngblood, coupled with critical defensive stops, allowed Oklahoma City to maintain control. The Kings were forced to foul in the final minute, and the Blue sealed the victory at the free-throw line.
The victory improved Oklahoma City’s record to 12-25 across all competitions, while Stockton fell to 23-12. The result was an upset according to pregame analytics, which heavily favored the Kings.
The teams had met once previously this season, with Stockton securing a 117-110 home victory on Jan. 18. Oklahoma City’s next game is at home against Austin on Tuesday. Stockton hosts Iowa on Wednesday.
