Oklahoma City vs. Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Salt Lake City Stars will look to complete a swift two-game home sweep of the Oklahoma City Blue when the G League teams meet again Friday night at Bruin Arena.
The Stars (23-15) dominated the opener of the back-to-back set Thursday, defeating the Blue 137-126. Salt Lake City has won four of its last five games and sits firmly in the Western Conference playoff picture. Oklahoma City (11-24), meanwhile, seeks to halt a two-game skid after showing signs of life with consecutive wins over Sioux Falls earlier this month.
A major focus will be the interior battle, where Salt Lake City’s Mohamed Bamba presents a formidable challenge. The veteran center is averaging 19.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last four games, including a 23-point, 13-rebound performance in a narrow loss to Valley on Feb. 12. His rim protection and rebounding will be a key factor against a Blue team that allows 119.3 points per game.
Oklahoma City will counter with guard Nikola Topic, who is coming off an efficient 22-point, four-assist effort in just 19 minutes in Thursday’s loss. In his previous game, a Feb. 10 win over Sioux Falls, he dished out seven assists. His playmaking and scoring burst will be crucial for a Blue offense that ranks near the bottom of the league.
The Stars’ offense, which exploded for 137 points Thursday, will test an Oklahoma City defense that has struggled consistently. According to Interstat’s ELO system, Salt Lake City is projected with an 85.6% probability to win Friday’s contest.
Following the game, the Stars begin a two-game road trip at Mexico City on Sunday. The Blue continue their road swing with a game at Stockton on Sunday.
