Austin vs. Iowa
Preview of Austin Spurs at Iowa Wolves G League Game
DES MOINES, Iowa (Interstat) — Two of the G League’s top teams clash Tuesday when the Austin Spurs visit the Iowa Wolves at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Spurs (22-9) enter with the league’s best record but are looking to rebound from a narrow 112-111 road loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Saturday. The Wolves (21-13) have won four of their last five, including a 123-120 victory over the Maine Celtics on Saturday.
A key matchup will feature Austin’s Harrison Ingram against Iowa’s Jules Bernard, both of whom are in exceptional form. Ingram is coming off a 23-point, 15-rebound performance in the loss to Rio Grande Valley and has recorded a double-double in eight of his last ten games, averaging a near triple-double over that stretch.
Bernard is playing at an elite level for Iowa, posting a historic triple-double of 30 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists in his last outing. He has scored 20 or more points in nine consecutive games, frequently flirting with triple-doubles and driving the Wolves’ high-powered offense.
Austin holds a slim lead in the standings, but Iowa has been dominant at home recently, winning their last four contests in Des Moines by an average of 12.5 points. The Spurs have been strong on the road this season, however, with a 10-4 record away from home.
The teams will meet again Wednesday afternoon in Des Moines for the second leg of a back-to-back series.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Tuesday.
