Motor City vs. Raptors 905
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (Interstat) — The Raptors 905 used a dominant third-quarter surge to overcome a strong first half from the Motor City Cruise and secure a 112-99 victory in a G League matchup Sunday at Hershey Centre.
The game turned decisively after halftime. The visiting Cruise, led by Wendell Moore’s energetic play, built a 56-51 lead by the break, capitalizing on a 31-point second quarter. Moore was instrumental in the first-half effort, contributing on both ends with rebounds, steals and efficient scoring around the basket.
However, the league-leading Raptors 905, now 27-6, reasserted control immediately after intermission. They opened the third quarter on a 16-2 run, stifling the Cruise offense and converting turnovers into easy baskets. Motor City managed only 11 points in the period, shooting poorly from the field as the Raptors’ defense tightened. Toronto’s squad outscored Motor City 35-11 in the quarter, transforming a five-point deficit into a commanding 86-67 lead.
The most important stretch of the game was that third-quarter blitz, which showcased the Raptors’ depth and defensive intensity. The run featured a balanced attack with Patrick McCaw and David Roddy providing key steals and scores, while Julian Reese controlled the interior. The Cruise never recovered, despite a 32-point fourth-quarter output that made the final score more respectable.
Reese, the Raptors’ center from Baltimore, was a force in the paint, impacting the game with rebounds and interior scoring. Moore led the Cruise with a versatile performance, but Motor City’s offense stalled catastrophically in the pivotal third period. Tyson Degenhart provided consistent scoring for the winners, and McCaw’s defensive activity generated several crucial turnovers during the game-changing run.
The loss dropped Motor City to 16-18 on the season. The Cruise will begin a two-game road set in Maine on Wednesday. Raptors 905, maintaining the best record in the league, travel to face the Cleveland Charge on Tuesday.
