Stockton vs. Texas
FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — A dominant third-quarter surge propelled the Stockton Kings to a 115-105 victory over the Texas Legends in a G League contest Friday night at Dr Pepper Arena.
The game turned decisively in the third period after a high-scoring first half. The Legends, fueled by a 37-point opening quarter, held a 69-57 lead at halftime. The momentum shifted completely after the break, as Stockton unleashed a 42-point third quarter while holding Texas to just 15 points.
The Kings opened the second half on a 15-3 run, erasing the deficit in just over two minutes. The burst was highlighted by consecutive three-pointers from DaQuan Jeffries and Dexter Dennis, along with a pair of Dennis dunks. Stockton’s defense stifled the Legends, forcing multiple turnovers and contested misses, which fueled their transition offense. By the time the quarter ended, the Kings had transformed a 12-point halftime deficit into a 99-84 lead, a staggering 33-point swing in the period.
Texas guard Ryan Nembhard led all scorers with 24 points and added nine assists in the loss. Moussa Cisse posted a double-double for the Legends with 16 points and 13 rebounds. For Stockton, Dexter Dennis provided significant offensive punch, particularly during the pivotal third-quarter run.
The Legends started strong, shooting efficiently in the first quarter to build an early double-digit advantage. They maintained that lead throughout a back-and-forth second quarter, where they scored 32 points. The offensive execution vanished after halftime, however, as Stockton’s defensive pressure increased. The Kings also found their rhythm from beyond the arc during their game-changing run.
With the win, Stockton improved its season record to 20-10. Texas fell to 13-20. The two teams are scheduled for a rematch at Dr Pepper Arena on Saturday night.
The outcome defied the pace of the first half, where the teams combined for 126 points. The Legends’ inability to sustain their offensive flow after halftime, coupled with Stockton’s explosive and efficient scoring burst, proved to be the decisive sequence of the game.
