Santa Cruz vs. Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (Interstat) — In a high-scoring G League affair defined by offensive efficiency, the Oklahoma City Blue used a dominant shooting performance to defeat the Santa Cruz Warriors 130-110 on Tuesday afternoon at Cox Convention Center.
The game’s most critical sequence arrived late in the third quarter, just as Santa Cruz threatened to close a persistent gap. Trailing 87-78, the Warriors mounted a brief 9-2 run, capped by a Desmond Cambridge layup and a Jack Clark 3-pointer, to pull within 89-87 with 5:07 left in the period. The surge forced an Oklahoma City timeout and shifted momentum toward the visitors.
The Blue responded decisively. Out of the stoppage, they immediately executed a 13-2 run over the next three minutes to reclaim firm control. The burst was fueled by balanced scoring, including a Kyle Rose layup, a driving score from Bryce Thompson and a 3-pointer from Anthony Pritchard. The run extinguished Santa Cruz’s rally and pushed the Oklahoma City lead back to 13 points, a margin the Warriors could not seriously challenge in the fourth quarter.
Oklahoma City’s victory was powered by superior shot-making. The Blue shot 55.1% from the field and a blistering 54.3% from 3-point range, making 19 of 35 attempts. Santa Cruz, by contrast, connected on just 38% of its field goals and 35.6% of its 3-pointers on a high volume of 59 attempts. The Blue also posted an offensive rating of 133.0 points per 100 possessions, significantly outpacing the Warriors’ 111.4.
Bryce Thompson led all scorers with 41 points for Oklahoma City, adding five rebounds. Anthony Pritchard orchestrated the offense with a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists. Zhaire Smith contributed 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Payton Sandfort added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Center Viktor Lakhin controlled the glass with 11 rebounds in 21 minutes.
Santa Cruz was led by Franco Miller’s 25 points and six assists. Chance McMillian recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Clark scored 14 points with five rebounds and five assists, and Jacksen Moni added 14 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, Oklahoma City improved its season record to 9-23. Santa Cruz fell to 10-21. The result avenged a 106-71 road loss to the Warriors on Jan. 4. Both teams continue their schedules next week, with Oklahoma City hosting Sioux Falls for a two-game set and Santa Cruz traveling to Memphis for a pair of games.
