South Bay vs. Osceola

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League shootout Monday night, the Osceola Magic outlasted the South Bay Lakers 137-133 at Silver Spurs Arena, using a dominant third-quarter surge to overcome a double-digit deficit and hold off a late rally.

The game turned decisively in the third period. After trailing 69-59 at halftime, the Magic erupted for 46 points in the quarter, flipping a 10-point deficit into a 105-95 lead heading into the final frame. Osceola’s offense operated with ruthless efficiency during the run, shooting a high percentage and capitalizing on South Bay turnovers to fuel the transition game. The Magic’s balanced attack saw multiple players contribute during the pivotal stretch, overwhelming the Lakers’ defense with a combination of interior scoring and perimeter shooting.

South Bay, which had built its lead behind a strong first-half shooting performance, particularly from guard Kobe Bufkin, refused to fade in the fourth. The Lakers chipped away at the lead, closing to within two points on several occasions in the final minutes. A driving layup by RJ Davis made it 131-129 with just over two minutes to play.

However, Osceola executed down the stretch to secure the win. After a critical steal by Lester Quinones led to a fast-break layup by Alex Morales to extend the lead to 125-119, the Magic made key free throws in the final seconds. Quinones sank two foul shots with 14 seconds left to put Osceola up 136-131. Following a last-second basket by South Bay’s Bufkin, Jarron Cumberland made one of two free throws with six seconds remaining for the final margin.

The victory improved Osceola’s record to 21-9, solidifying its position near the top of the league standings. The loss dropped South Bay to 16-14. The game lived up to its pregame statistical projection, which heavily favored the Magic at home.

Bufkin led all scorers for South Bay, demonstrating a hot hand from deep throughout the contest. The Lakers’ offense was potent, scoring over 30 points in each of the first three quarters, but could not match Osceola’s third-quarter explosion or get a final stop when needed.

Osceola’s win was a product of depth and resilience, as they weathered South Bay’s early offensive barrage and controlled the tempo after halftime. The Magic’s ability to generate points from multiple sources, including timely contributions from Morales, Quinones, and Ja’Vonte Smart, proved the difference in a game where both teams shot the ball effectively and traded leads.

South Bay will look to rebound on the road against Capital City on Wednesday. Osceola continues its homestand, also on Wednesday, against Noblesville.
