Motor City vs. Cleveland
Preview: Motor City Cruise at Cleveland Charge
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The surging Cleveland Charge will look to extend their winning streak and solidify their playoff positioning when they host the Motor City Cruise in a G League matchup on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the Wolstein Center.
The Charge (16-10) enter on a four-game win streak, most recently dispatching the Birmingham Squadron 120-105 on Jan. 24. They have dominated recent play, winning seven of their last nine contests. Center Norchad Omier has been a force, averaging a double-double during the streak. He posted 16 points and 15 rebounds in the last outing and has recorded a double-double in five of his last six games.
Motor City (14-16) arrives after a narrow 106-104 road victory over the Long Island Nets on Wednesday, snapping a two-game skid. The Cruise have been inconsistent but are 5-5 in their last 10 games. They will lean heavily on forward Isaac Jones, who is coming off a monstrous performance: 32 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks against Long Island. Over his last five games, Jones is averaging 22.0 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocks.
History favors the home team. Cleveland has won both meetings this season, a 129-121 victory in Detroit on Dec. 10 and a 121-111 win on Nov. 12.
The game features a compelling frontcourt battle between Omier and Jones. Cleveland’s success has been bolstered by strong guard play, notably from Darius Brown who dished 13 assists last game. Motor City will need similar support for Jones from Wendell Moore Jr. (20 points, 10 rebounds last game) and Drew Peterson to challenge the Charge on their home floor.
A Cleveland win would further separate them in the standings, while Motor City seeks a statement road victory to climb back toward .500. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST.
