Greensboro vs. Maine

Preview: Greensboro Swarm at Maine Celtics

PORTLAND, Maine (Interstat) — The Maine Celtics will seek to avenge a recent loss when they host the league-leading Greensboro Swarm in a G League matchup Sunday at the Portland Exposition Building.

The game is a quick turnaround for both teams after Greensboro (20-7) defeated Maine (17-11) 122-112 on the same floor Friday night. The Swarm have won all three meetings between the teams this season, including two narrow victories in November.

Greensboro enters with the best record in the league and has won eight of its last ten games. The Swarm are powered by forward Liam McNeeley, who is averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists over his last four contests. He scored 27 points in a win over Iowa on Dec. 27 and posted a double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) in an overtime victory against Osceola on Jan. 17.

The Maine Celtics, who had won five of six before Friday’s loss, will counter with guard Hayden Gray. He is coming off a near triple-double performance, recording 23 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists in a road win at College Park on Jan. 21. Over his last ten games, Gray has averaged 10.3 points and 6.5 assists, facilitating the Maine offense.

The Swarm’s high-powered attack, which has scored 122 or more points in four straight games, will test a Maine defense looking for redemption on its home court. The Celtics have been strong at home this season, aside from the recent loss to Greensboro.

Sunday’s contest concludes a two-game set between the teams in Portland. Following the game, Maine will host Grand Rapids on Thursday. Greensboro’s next action is a back-to-back homestand against Windy City on Jan. 30-31.

If you go: Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at the Portland Exposition Building in Portland, Maine.
