Rip City vs. Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Rip City Remix squad will look to extend its winning streak when it visits the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a G League matchup on Thursday night at Bert Ogden Arena.

The Remix (16-11) have won five of their last six games, including a 119-109 victory over Memphis on Monday. They are led by forward Blake Hinson, who has been on a scoring tear. Over his last 10 games, Hinson is averaging 24.7 points, including a 40-point outburst on Jan. 9 and a 35-point performance on Jan. 2. He is coming off a 25-point, 7-rebound effort in the win over Memphis.

Rio Grande Valley (13-12) snapped a two-game skid with a 126-121 home win over South Bay on Saturday. The Vipers are powered by forward Isaiah Crawford, who scored 29 points in that victory. Crawford is averaging 18.8 points over his last five contests.

The game features a contrast in recent momentum. Rip City has found its rhythm in January, while the Vipers have been inconsistent, sandwiching wins around a pair of lopsided road losses at Mexico City last week.

Center Yang Hansen, who had 19 points for the Remix on Monday, provides an interior presence alongside Hinson. The Vipers counter with guard Daishen Nix, who recorded a triple-double (18 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists) in Saturday’s win.

This is the first of a two-game set between the teams at Bert Ogden Arena, with a rematch scheduled for Saturday. The contest pits two Western Conference teams jockeying for playoff positioning just past the season’s midpoint.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST Thursday.
