Austin vs. Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (Interstat) — The Austin Spurs used a dominant fourth-quarter performance to pull away from the Oklahoma City Blue and secure a 127-112 victory in a G League matchup Tuesday night at Cox Convention Center.

The game, which featured 15 lead changes and was tied 10 times through three quarters, was ultimately decided by a massive 39-18 scoring disparity in the final period. Austin entered the fourth clinging to a 90-94 deficit but opened the quarter with a 16-0 run to seize control for good.

The most important part of the game was Austin’s decisive response to Oklahoma City’s third-quarter push. The Blue, led by a prolific scoring night from Bryce Thompson, had erased an early Austin lead and built a four-point advantage heading into the final 12 minutes. The Spurs’ defense immediately stiffened, holding Oklahoma City scoreless for the first four and a half minutes of the fourth while their offense ignited.

The run was a collective effort. Jayden Nunn and Donovan Williams combined for quick scores, Harrison Ingram added a layup and an assist, and a dunk from Tre King capped the surge, putting Austin ahead 110-94 with 8:18 remaining. The Blue never recovered, getting no closer than 11 points the rest of the way as the Spurs shot a blistering 64 percent from the field in the quarter.

Austin improved to 18-6 with the win, while Oklahoma City fell to 6-20.

The first half was a tightly contested offensive showcase. Oklahoma City’s Thompson, a small forward from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was nearly unstoppable, scoring 25 of his game-high 38 points before halftime. His scoring kept the Blue in step with an Austin team that shot efficiently from deep. The Spurs hit eight three-pointers in the first half, including two each from Tre King and Stanley Umude, to take a slim 63-65 lead into the break.

The Blue surged ahead in the third quarter, outscoring Austin 29-25 behind Thompson’s continued attack and timely shooting from Buddy Boeheim. But the Spurs’ depth and defensive adjustment in the fourth proved overwhelming.

Beyond Thompson’s 38 points for Oklahoma City, Anthony Pritchard added 24 points and Zhaire Smith scored 19. For Austin, balance was key. Donovan Williams led the Spurs with 29 points, while Elfrid Payton orchestrated the offense with 12 points and a game-high 12 assists. Tre King contributed 22 points, all but two coming from beyond the three-point arc, and Harrison Ingram posted a strong all-around line with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists.

The victory extends Austin’s winning streak to three games. The Spurs host the Capital City Go-Go for a two-game set starting Thursday. Oklahoma City looks to snap a four-game skid when it begins a two-game road series at San Diego on Friday.
