Austin Edges Salt Lake City in G League Thriller

SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — Kyle Mangas hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining, and Tre King sealed it with a buzzer-beating 3 as the Austin Spurs edged the Salt Lake City Stars 120-118 in a G League game Thursday night at Bruin Arena.

The Spurs survived a late rally by the Stars, who had erased a large second-half deficit. Salt Lake City’s Sean East tied the game at 118 with two free throws with 28 seconds left, setting up the dramatic finish. Mangas then hit his sixth 3-pointer of the night on the ensuing possession before King’s game-winner as time expired.

Austin improved to 17-6 with the victory, while Salt Lake City fell to 17-8. The Spurs swept the two-game series after also winning here Tuesday. Salt Lake City was projected as a significant favorite by statistical models pregame.
