Raptors 905 vs. Birmingham
Raptors Look to Extend Dominance in Rematch with Squadron
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The surging Raptors 905 visit the struggling Birmingham Squadron on Tuesday in a G League matchup that pits the league’s best record against one of its worst.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST at Legacy Arena.
The Raptors (21-2) arrive as the class of the circuit, having won 10 of their last 11 games. Their most recent outing was a 117-98 victory over Noblesville on Thursday, led by 26 points each from David Roddy and Tyreke Key. Their only two losses this season came against San Diego and Salt Lake City.
Birmingham (9-15) has lost three of its last four, including a 112-95 home defeat to Osceola on Saturday. The Squadron are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
This is a quick rematch of Sunday’s contest, which the Raptors dominated in a 114-67 road win. Tuesday offers Birmingham a chance for immediate redemption on its home floor.
A key matchup will feature two productive forwards. Toronto’s David Roddy is coming off a near triple-double with 26 points, eight rebounds and eight assists against Noblesville. Over his last five games, he is averaging 12.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
For Birmingham, Josh Oduro has been a bright spot despite the team’s struggles. He posted 23 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Osceola and is averaging 18.2 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five contests.
The Raptors’ statistical dominance is stark. They boast a league-leading net rating, while the Squadron rank near the bottom in several defensive categories. Birmingham will need a significant defensive improvement to slow a balanced Raptors attack that has scored 110 or more points in 10 of its last 11 games.
Following this game, Raptors 905 begins a two-game road set at Capital City on Thursday. Birmingham remains home to host Motor City on Thursday.
