Iowa vs. San Diego

IOWA WOLVES (12-9) AT SAN DIEGO CLIPPERS (12-9)

Preview

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — Two teams riding hot streaks and locked in a standings tie will meet Saturday when the Iowa Wolves visit the San Diego Clippers in a G League matchup at Frontwave Arena.

Both clubs enter with identical 12-9 records and have won four of their last five games. The contest is the second of a back-to-back set after the teams faced off Friday night.

Iowa is powered by guard Jules Bernard, who is averaging 22.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists over his last 10 games. He is coming off a dominant 30-point, 9-assist performance in a 120-110 win over Sioux Falls on Jan. 4. Center Joan Beringer added 14 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks in that victory.

San Diego counters with forward Zach Freemantle, who has recorded double-doubles in two of his last three outings. He posted 24 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow 126-125 road win over Long Island on Jan. 6. Guard Jaelen House led the Clippers with 29 points and six assists in that contest.

The Wolves have shown a potent offense, scoring 120 or more points in five of their last eight games. The Clippers have mirrored that firepower recently, eclipsing 114 points in four of their last five.

Saturday’s game features a contrast in recent schedules. Iowa concludes a two-game California trip, while San Diego plays its second straight at home before embarking on a four-game road swing.

After Saturday, the Wolves travel to face the Valley Suns on Jan. 13. The Clippers hit the road to play the South Bay Lakers on Jan. 14.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
