Osceola vs. Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — A surging Osceola Magic squad looks to continue its climb up the G League standings when it visits the struggling Birmingham Squadron on Thursday night at Legacy Arena.

The Magic (13-8) have won five of their last seven games and are coming off a 130-114 road victory over Windy City on Saturday. Forward Alex Morales has been a catalyst, averaging 19.5 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last 10 contests. He posted 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the win over the Bulls.

Birmingham (9-13) seeks to halt a slide after a 130-94 loss at Delaware on Sunday. The Squadron have dropped four of their last five. Center Hunter Dickinson provides a consistent interior presence, notching a 23-point, 22-rebound double-double in the defeat. He averages 16.3 points and 12.4 rebounds over his last 10 games.

The teams split a two-game series in Osceola in November, with each winning decisively on the other’s court. The Squadron took the most recent meeting 122-118 on Nov. 16.

Osceola’s offense, which has scored 120 or more points in eight of its last 10 games, will test a Birmingham defense that has allowed an average of 118.2 points during its 1-4 skid. The Magic’s Lester Quinones, who scored 25 points alongside Morales on Saturday, adds backcourt firepower.

For Birmingham to reverse its fortunes, it will need more consistent production beyond Dickinson. Guard Chase Hunter, who had 20 points in the last outing, is a key perimeter option.

Thursday’s contest is the first of a quick home-and-home set, with the teams meeting again in Birmingham on Saturday.
