Wisconsin vs. Stockton
Preview: Struggling Wisconsin Herd Faces Stockton Kings in G League Showdown
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — A clash between teams on opposite trajectories will unfold Saturday when the struggling Wisconsin Herd visits the surging Stockton Kings in a G League matchup at Golden 1 Center.
The Herd (4-14) enter on a five-game losing skid, most recently falling 115-107 at Cleveland on Tuesday. Their season has been defined by defensive struggles, allowing an average of 116.2 points during their current slide. The bright spot has been the prolific scoring of guard Cormac Ryan, who is averaging 22.1 points over his last eight games. He erupted for 32 points, five rebounds and three assists in the loss to Cleveland.
In contrast, the Kings (11-7) have won four of their last six and are coming off a dominant 120-101 victory over Rip City on Sunday. They have found a rhythm offensively, scoring 119 or more points in four of those six contests. Swingman Dexter Dennis has been a catalyst, averaging 21.4 points over his last six appearances. He posted 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the win over Rip City.
Stockton’s balance will challenge Wisconsin’s fragile defense. In their last win, the Kings saw strong contributions from Jaylin Williams (17 points, 11 rebounds) and K.J. Jones (17 points). Wisconsin, meanwhile, has relied heavily on Ryan and frontcourt player Pete Nance, who had 20 points and eight rebounds against Cleveland.
The game represents a temporary home for the Stockton Kings, who are playing at the NBA’s Golden 1 Center instead of their usual Stockton Arena. For the Herd, it is the start of a challenging road stretch as they seek to reverse their fortunes. The Kings will look to protect their home court and solidify their position in the Western Conference standings.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. PST on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
