Osceola vs. Santa Cruz

BONNY DOON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from the Santa Cruz Warriors and cruise to a 122-97 victory in a G League matchup on Saturday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

The game was closely contested through the first half, with Osceola holding a narrow 51-52 lead at halftime. The turning point came in the third quarter, where the Magic outscored the Warriors 36-26 to seize control. Osceola’s offense exploded, shooting efficiently from the field and capitalizing on a series of Santa Cruz turnovers to build an insurmountable lead.

Alex Morales led the charge for Osceola, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 30 minutes. His all-around performance set the tone, particularly during the decisive third-quarter run where his activity on both ends helped spark the separation.

Lester Quinones provided the primary scoring punch for the Magic with a game-high 27 points, including five 3-pointers, and added five rebounds. Point guard Reece Beekman orchestrated the offense with 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Will Baker and Phillip Wheeler each contributed 16 points. Wheeler scored 18 off the bench.

For the struggling Santa Cruz squad, which fell to 3-14, Chance McMillian led the way with 19 points. Taevion Kinsey added 18 points, but the Warriors were hampered by 22 turnovers, which Osceola converted into 32 points. Charles Bassey anchored the defense with four blocks and eight rebounds.

The Magic’s balanced attack proved too much, as they assisted on 28 of their 44 made field goals and shot 50% from 3-point range. The Warriors, by contrast, struggled from deep, connecting on just 10 of their 41 attempts from beyond the arc.

With the win, Osceola improved its record to 10-7 and will complete a two-game set in Santa Cruz on Sunday. The Warriors, mired in a difficult season, will look to regroup in the rematch before embarking on a road trip.
