Iowa vs. Wisconsin
IOWA WOLVES (7-5) AT WISCONSIN HERD (3-9)
Preview
OSHKOSH, Wis. (Interstat) — The Iowa Wolves visit the Wisconsin Herd on Sunday in a G League matchup at Oshkosh Arena, with the teams trending in opposite directions.
Iowa (7-5) enters having lost two of its last three, including a 121-101 defeat to Motor City on Friday. Despite the loss, the Wolves have shown a potent offense, scoring 115 points or more in seven of their last eight games.
Wisconsin (3-9) seeks to halt a three-game skid, most recently falling 107-103 to Grand Rapids on Saturday. The Herd have struggled to find consistency, with their last win coming on Dec. 3.
A key matchup will feature Iowa forward Enrique Freeman against Wisconsin guard Victor Oladipo. Freeman has been a reliable force for the Wolves, recording four double-doubles in his last seven games. He is averaging 13.9 points and 8.3 rebounds over that stretch. In Friday’s loss, he posted 11 points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes.
Oladipo, a veteran on assignment, provides Wisconsin with scoring and playmaking. He is averaging 15.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists over his last six appearances. He scored 21 points in a loss to Noblesville on Dec. 11.
For Iowa, center Rocco Zikarsky is coming off a strong performance with 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench against Motor City. Wisconsin will look to counter inside after allowing Grand Rapids to shoot 50.6% from the field on Saturday.
The Wolves won the only prior meeting this season, 156-137 at Motor City on Nov. 29, though that game did not involve Wisconsin. The teams will meet again in Oshkosh on Tuesday.
Sunday’s contest pits Iowa’s high-scoring attack, averaging 126.8 points per game, against a Wisconsin defense allowing 112.3 points per contest. The Herd will need to improve their defensive efficiency to slow the Wolves and snap their losing streak.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST.
