Austin vs. Texas

FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — The surging Austin Spurs, owners of the G League’s best record, visit the .500 Texas Legends on Friday night in a matchup of NBA affiliate teams at Dr Pepper Arena.

Austin (10-1) enters on a four-game winning streak following a narrow 110-107 road victory over Mexico City on Monday. The Spurs’ lone loss came against Osceola on Nov. 20.

Texas (6-6) has found its rhythm after a slow start, winning four of its last five games. The Legends are coming off a dominant 130-94 road win at Birmingham on Tuesday, where they shot 58% from the field.

A key matchup will feature two of the league’s most explosive wings. Austin’s David Jones is averaging 27.3 points and 7.0 rebounds over his last three games, including a 33-point performance Monday. For Texas, Miles Kelly has been a consistent force, scoring 20 or more points in four of his last six outings and posting a 35-point, 10-rebound double-double on Nov. 28.

In their most recent game, the Spurs were led by Jones’ 33 points and seven rebounds, supported by Jayden Nunn’s 13 points and seven assists and Micah Potter’s 13-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Legends’ blowout win in Birmingham was fueled by Kelly’s 30 points, along with 24 points and nine assists from Dalano Banton.

The game is the first of a quick home-and-home set between the teams, who will meet again Saturday night at Comerica Center in Frisco.

After this two-game series, Austin breaks for the holiday before hosting Mexico City on Dec. 27. Texas hits the road for a four-game trip starting Dec. 27 at Noblesville.
