Delaware vs. Raptors 905
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (Interstat) — The Raptors 905 remained the G League’s only undefeated team, overcoming a torrid first-half offensive display by the Delaware Blue Coats to secure a 111-102 victory on Thursday night at Hershey Centre.
The win improved the Raptors’ record to 12-0, while Delaware fell to 3-9, marking its second loss to Raptors 905 in as many nights.
The most important part of the game was a decisive third-quarter surge by the home team that completely reversed the contest’s momentum. Delaware, led by a dominant first-half performance from center Johni Broome, entered halftime with a surprising 69-48 lead after shooting with remarkable efficiency. The Blue Coats scored 32 points in the first quarter and added 37 more in the second, building a lead that reached 21 points.
However, the Raptors 905 emerged from the break with a transformed defensive intensity and a methodical offensive approach. They outscored Delaware 34-17 in the third period, erasing the large deficit and taking a lead they would not relinquish. The Raptors’ defense stifled the Blue Coats’ rhythm, forcing turnovers and contested shots, while their offense found consistent success inside and from beyond the arc.
Power forward Jonathan Mogbo was instrumental in the turnaround, providing relentless energy on both ends of the floor. His activity on the offensive glass created second-chance opportunities, and his defensive presence helped contain Broome after the intermission. The Raptors also received key contributions from David Roddy, whose perimeter shooting stretched the Delaware defense, and Jarkel Joiner, who provided timely scoring and playmaking.
Delaware’s offense, so fluid in the first half, became stagnant in the face of the Raptors’ adjusted pressure. Broome, who was a focal point early, found scoring more difficult after halftime. Despite a strong all-around effort from Malcolm Hill and facilitating from Kennedy Chandler, the Blue Coats could not reignite their early scoring pace, managing only 33 total points in the second half.
The Raptors 905 sealed the game from the free-throw line in the final seconds, with Joiner and Chucky Hepburn making clutch shots to extend the lead and preserve the perfect record.
The victory continued a dominant start to the season for Raptors 905, while Delaware was left to search for answers after letting a substantial lead slip away for the second consecutive night against the same opponent.
