Osceola vs. Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic used a dominant first half and survived a second-half surge from the Oklahoma City Blue to secure a 113-101 victory in the NBA G League on Thursday night at Cox Convention Center.

Osceola center Orlando Robinson led all scorers with 23 points and added nine rebounds and three blocks, setting the tone early as the Magic built a commanding lead. His inside presence, coupled with efficient outside shooting, propelled Osceola to a season-best 7-3 record, while Oklahoma City fell to 4-6.

The Magic seized control from the opening tip, exploding for 31 points in the first quarter and extending their lead with a 34-point second quarter. They led 65-47 at halftime, shooting 16 of 44 from three-point range for the game. Lester Quinones supported Robinson with 20 points and seven rebounds for Osceola.

Oklahoma City refused to fold, mounting a strong comeback in the third quarter. The Blue outscored the Magic 30-20 in the period, fueled by Brooks Barnhizer and Chris Youngblood. Barnhizer, a small forward from Lafayette, Indiana, finished with 23 points, while Youngblood added 20 points and eight rebounds. A 13-4 Blue run to start the third quarter cut the deficit to single digits, and a Youngblood three-pointer with 8:51 left in the period brought Oklahoma City within three points at 60-57.

Osceola’s offense, which had stalled momentarily, found its rhythm again to stem the tide. Jalen Crutcher hit critical threes, finishing with 14 points, and Ja’Vonte Smart contributed 18 points off the bench. Every time the Blue threatened, the Magic had an answer.

The fourth quarter saw Oklahoma City draw as close as five points after a Malevy Leons three-pointer made it 95-90 with 3:37 remaining. But the Magic closed the game on an 18-6 run, capitalizing on Oklahoma City’s mistakes. The Blue committed 22 turnovers leading to 23 Osceola points, a decisive factor in the contest.

Despite being outrebounded 53-42, Osceola’s superior ball security and shot-making proved the difference. The Magic scored 113 points on 97 possessions for an offensive rating of 116.5, while Oklahoma City managed 101 points on 96 possessions (105.6 offensive rating).

Oklahoma City point guard Anthony Pritchard, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, orchestrated the comeback attempt with a team-high eight assists to go with 14 points and seven rebounds. Viktor Lakhin added 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the Blue.

Osceola’s defensive activity was also key, registering 11 steals and seven blocks. Justin Minaya provided valuable energy off the bench with nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.

The two teams will meet again in a rematch at Cox Convention Center on Saturday. According to Interstat’s ELO system, Oklahoma City had been projected with a 51.30 percent probability to win Thursday’s contest.
