Cleveland vs. Windy City
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge avenged a loss from two nights prior with a dominant offensive performance, defeating the Windy City Bulls 135-117 in a G League matchup Sunday at Sears Centre.
Cleveland’s offense was nearly unstoppable in the first half, erupting for 88 points to build a commanding 88-54 lead at halftime. The Charge set the tone immediately, scoring 43 points in the opening quarter and following it with a 45-point second period. The Bulls, despite a valiant effort after the break where they outscored Cleveland 63-47 in the second half, could never overcome the massive early deficit.
Kevin Knox led all scorers for Windy City, pouring in 37 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Mouhamadou Gueye recorded a double-double for the Bulls with 25 points and 15 rebounds.
The Charge, however, showcased a more balanced and potent attack. Killian Hayes orchestrated the offense with 26 points and eight assists. The frontcourt duo of Tristan Enaruna and Chaney Johnson provided efficient scoring and playmaking. Enaruna scored 23 points, while Johnson, from Alabaster, Alabama, posted a stat line of 16 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Cleveland’s ball movement was exceptional, with Darius Brown distributing a game-high 11 assists to go along with seven points and eight rebounds. Miller Kopp added 15 points, and Chris Livingston of Akron, Ohio, chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds.
The victory levels Cleveland’s season record at 5-5. Windy City, which had defeated the Charge 142-135 on Friday, saw its record move to 5-3. The game’s outcome defied the pregame statistical projections, which had favored the Bulls to win.
