Wisconsin vs. Noblesville
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Noblesville Boom erased a 17-point second-half deficit with a dominant fourth-quarter performance to edge the Wisconsin Herd 111-109 in a G League matchup Sunday at the Arena at Innovation Mile.
The Boom outscored the Herd 37-22 in the final period, fueled by a decisive 13-2 run in the closing minutes to secure the comeback victory. The win improved both teams’ records to 2-7 on the season.
Noblesville guard Steven Ashworth was instrumental in the rally, scoring 27 points and dishing out nine assists. His backcourt mate, R.J. Felton, added 19 points, including a crucial mid-range jumper with 45 seconds remaining that put the Boom ahead for good at 111-109.
Gabe McGlothan recorded a double-double for Noblesville with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Taelon Peter contributed 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.
For Wisconsin, Johnny Davis led the way with 23 points and nine rebounds. Dennis Smith provided a spark off the bench with 17 points, and John Butler tallied 13 points and eight rebounds. Pete Nance also posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Herd controlled the game for the first three quarters, building a 58-50 halftime lead and extending it to 17 points in the third quarter. Wisconsin’s offense was efficient, but it could not withstand Noblesville’s fourth-quarter surge, which saw the Boom shoot 60 percent from the field in the final frame.
The game featured 13 lead changes and was tightly contested until the final possession. After Felton’s basket gave Noblesville the lead, Wisconsin had two chances to tie or win in the final seven seconds. Following a timeout, Pete Nance’s driving layup attempt at the buzzer was off the mark, and McGlothan secured the defensive rebound to seal the Boom’s victory.
The game was a back-and-forth affair early, with Wisconsin taking a 32-28 lead after the first quarter, highlighted by a Dennis Smith 63-foot heave at the buzzer.
Both teams return to action on Wednesday. Noblesville travels to face the Cleveland Charge, while Wisconsin visits the Motor City Cruise. The two teams will meet again in a rematch in Noblesville on Dec. 11.
