Delaware vs. Westchester

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — Kennedy Chandler drove for a go-ahead layup with three seconds remaining to cap a furious second-half comeback, lifting the Delaware Blue Coats to a 113-111 victory over the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League on Wednesday night at Westchester County Center.

The Blue Coats, who trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half, outscored the Knicks 67-41 in the second half to erase the massive deficit and secure the win. The game was decided on the final possession after Westchester’s Bryson Warren sank two free throws with 25 seconds left to tie the score at 111.

Chandler, a point guard from Bel Aire, Kan., was the catalyst for Delaware, finishing with 22 points, 13 assists and six rebounds in 40 minutes. His driving basket in the final seconds proved to be the winner after Westchester’s Donovan Williams missed a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Knicks dominated the opening period, exploding for 41 points to take a 20-point lead. They maintained a 70-46 advantage at halftime. The game turned dramatically in the third quarter as Delaware’s defense tightened, holding Westchester to just 19 points while cutting the deficit to 89-76 heading into the final period.

Delaware’s DeAndre Williams and Emoni Bates each scored 22 points. Williams added seven rebounds and three blocks before being ejected for a flagrant foul with 44 seconds remaining in the game. Bates contributed 25 points and four rebounds.

For Westchester, Donovan Williams led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Bryson Warren added 22 points and five assists. Ibrahima Diallo anchored the defense with 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks before fouling out in the final minute.

The game was a statistical oddity, with both teams committing 20 turnovers. Westchester won the rebounding battle 52-45 and recorded 16 steals and 11 blocks, but were hampered by 25 personal fouls compared to Delaware’s 16. The Blue Coats shot 42% from the field, while the Knicks shot 40%.

The victory improves Delaware’s record to 2-4, while Westchester falls to 1-4. The teams split their early-season series after the Blue Coats won the first meeting on Nov. 8.

Delaware will host the College Park Skyhawks on Friday, while Westchester is set to host the Maine Celtics.
