Austin vs. Memphis
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Interstat) — The Austin Spurs remained undefeated, completing a two-game road sweep of the Memphis Hustle with a 125-111 victory in the NBA G League on Sunday at DeSoto Civic Center.
Austin improved to 4-0, while Memphis fell to an even 3-3.
The Spurs seized control of the game with a dominant third-quarter performance, outscoring the Hustle 39-23 to break open what had been a close contest. The teams entered halftime separated by just five points, but Austin’s offensive surge after the break created a cushion that Memphis could not overcome in the final period.
A balanced scoring attack propelled the Spurs, with multiple players contributing significant performances. The backcourt duo of Jamaree Bouyea and Kyle Mangas provided consistent offense, while Riley Minix and David Jones made key plays throughout the game.
Memphis was led by G.G. Jackson, who fought to keep the Hustle in the game. Evan Gilyard, DeJon Jarreau and Charlie Brown also provided scoring punches for the home team, but their efforts were not enough to counter Austin’s depth and third-quarter explosion.
The game’s opening quarter was a high-scoring affair, with Austin taking a narrow 35-30 lead. The pace slowed slightly in the second period, but the Spurs maintained their advantage, heading into the locker room with a 60-55 lead. The decisive third quarter saw Austin’s offense operate at peak efficiency, effectively putting the game out of reach despite a 33-point fourth-quarter effort from the Hustle.
The win extends Austin’s strong start to the season, having also defeated the Hustle 120-98 on Saturday. Memphis will look to rebound in its next outing after dropping two consecutive games to the Spurs.
