Birmingham vs. Osceola

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League showdown Sunday, the Birmingham Squadron avenged a lopsided loss from just two days prior, outlasting the Osceola Magic 122-118 at Silver Spurs Arena.

The game was a dramatic reversal of fortune after the Magic dominated the Squadron 120-77 on Friday. This time, Birmingham’s offense proved unstoppable, particularly in a 39-point fourth quarter that sealed the victory.

Osceola mounted a significant challenge in the third quarter, outscoring Birmingham 38-26 to erase a deficit and seize momentum. The Magic’s run was fueled by a versatile attack and tightened defense, threatening to run away with a second consecutive win over the Squadron.

However, Birmingham regrouped in the final period. The Squadron’s offense clicked with a series of clutch baskets and key free throws down the stretch to reclaim the lead and withstand a late Osceola push. The Magic’s Lester Quinones hit a 26-foot 3-pointer as time expired to bring the final margin to four points, but it was not enough to overcome the Squadron’s explosive finish.

The win improved Birmingham’s season record to 2-3, while handing Osceola its first loss of the season, dropping the Magic to 4-1.

The game was a back-and-forth affair from the start. Birmingham established an early lead, scoring 25 points in the first quarter to Osceola’s 23, and extended it by halftime, leading 57-51 after a 32-point second quarter. The Magic’s third-quarter surge set the stage for the frantic fourth-quarter battle.

Key plays in the final minutes included critical free throws from Birmingham’s Jaden Springer and Trey Alexander to maintain a two-possession lead. Osceola’s Alex Morales was a force throughout, contributing significantly to the Magic’s offensive efforts and collecting a defensive rebound on the final missed free throw to set up Quinones’ last-second three.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Osceola had entered the game with an 87 percent probability to win, making Birmingham’s victory a significant upset. The Squadron now look ahead to a two-game road series against the Mexico City Capitals on Nov. 23 and 24. The Magic will seek to rebound on the road with a two-game set against the Austin Spurs starting Wednesday.
