Long Island vs. Maine

PORTLAND, Maine (Interstat) — The Long Island Nets and Maine Celtics, two teams trending in opposite directions, will face off in a G League matchup on Friday at the Portland Exposition Building.

The Nets (1-1) enter the contest looking to bounce back from a 112-105 home loss to Capital City on Sunday. Long Island’s offense was powered in that game by Danny Wolf, who posted a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. The team had opened its season with a 109-102 victory over the same Capital City squad.

Conversely, the Celtics (0-3) are still searching for their first win. Maine is coming off a lopsided 111-75 road loss to Raptors 905 on Wednesday. Their season has been marked by narrow defeats, including back-to-back overtime losses at Greensboro to start the campaign (131-129 and 122-120).

The game will be the first of a two-game set in Portland, with the teams scheduled to meet again on Saturday. For Long Island, it begins a stretch of 10 games in 26 days. For the struggling Celtics, it represents a chance to secure a much-needed victory in front of their home crowd and turn their season around.
