Texas vs. Osceola

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic unleashed a record-breaking offensive onslaught in the second half, running away from the Texas Legends for a 144-112 victory in a G League matchup on Saturday night at Silver Spurs Arena.

The game, a rematch of Osceola’s 134-113 win just 24 hours prior, was competitive for a half before the Magic transformed into an unstoppable force after halftime. Osceola erupted for 89 points in the second half, including a staggering 45-point third quarter and a 44-point fourth quarter, to turn a narrow 55-59 halftime lead into a lopsided affair.

The offensive efficiency was historic. Osceola finished with an offensive rating of 139.7, scoring 144 points on just 103 possessions. The Magic shot 54% from the field and were blistering from beyond the arc, connecting on 17 of 41 three-point attempts.

Orlando Robinson and Colin Castleton formed a dominant frontcourt duo for the Magic. Robinson, the 7-foot center, posted a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds, adding six assists. Castleton, a 6-foot-10 power forward, matched Robinson’s scoring output with 25 points of his own to go with seven rebounds and three assists.

The backcourt provided a fireworks display as well. Ja’Vonte Smart caught fire, scoring 23 points, with 21 coming in the second-half explosion. Lester Quinones also added 21 points for Osceola, which improved its season record to 2-0.

For Texas, which fell to 0-2, the defensive breakdowns were comprehensive. Despite scoring 112 points, the Legends were outclassed in nearly every statistical category. They were outrebounded 54-41, committed 17 turnovers leading to 13 Magic steals, and managed only five assists as a team, highlighting a stagnant offensive approach.

Jamarion Sharp, the Legends’ 7-foot-5 center, was a bright spot with 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Miles Kelly led the team in scoring with 20 points and added nine rebounds, while Dalano Banton chipped in 15 points.

The game began with both teams trading baskets in a fast-paced first quarter, which ended with Osceola holding a slim 29-34 lead. The Legends managed to stay within four points by halftime, but the third quarter proved to be their undoing as the Magic’s shooting barrage began and their defense tightened, holding Texas to just 30 points in the period while nearly doubling that output themselves.

The Magic’s ball movement and shooting proved too much, as they also outperformed the Legends from the free-throw line, making 14 of 17 attempts compared to Texas’ 9 of 14.

The win completes a two-game season-opening sweep for Osceola over Texas. The Legends will look for their first win when they return home to face Memphis on Tuesday. The Magic’s next contest is at home against Mexico City on Thursday.
